Introduction to Gouache Workshop | Sun 16th Feb 2-5pm | Adult Art Class
Time: 2-5pm
Date: Sun 16th February 2025
Location: Millworks, 28 Field Road, Busby, Glasgow G76 8SE
Tutor: Jasmine Holt
This is a guest tutor class with the wonderful gouache queen Jasmine Holt. You can find some of her beautiful work on her website
Heard of gouache but not quite sure what it is? It’s a lovely mixture between watercolour and acrylic and produces some beautiful matt paintings, that can be delicate, bold and even lends itself to illustration wonderfully.
This class will be taking you from the start from how to use the paints and guide you through a painting (or 2) of your own.
Perfect for all abilities:
- Beginners - Jasmine will teach you from scratch. If you’ve never used gouache before, this will show you step by step.
- Intermediate - maybe you’re used to using another medium but are keen to try another one, this class is perfect for you to broaden your painting skills.
This class is a great introduction to painting and experimenting with different techniques to create your paintings.
MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED.
Spaces are limited. More info below.
Why this class?
Learning how to use paints can be daunting, but I’ll simplify the process for you and you will leave with the knowledge of how to create other paintings at home. We will try new techniques to achieve interesting finishes and help you find your own way of painting.
A lovely afternoon away from it all to learn some new skills, have a chat and zone out! A very relaxed class.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided, but you’re more than welcome to bring your own refreshments too (wine is allowed!)
Venue
The venue is in Kayleigh’s new studio in Busby, Glasgow. It’s a 10 minute walk from Busby Train Station and the number 6 bus stops nearby too. There is free parking outside the venue.
Unfortunately the room is on the first floor with no lift access. My sincere apologies if this is a barrier to you attending.
Timings
Class will start promptly at 2pm, so please arrive 5 minutes early to allow for settling in. Class will end at 5pm.
Materials List
All materials are provided. However, if you’d prefer to use your own so you can learn to work with what you’ve got at home, you’re more than welcome to bring them along. Here’s what we’ll be using:
- Gouache paint
- Paintbrushes
- Watercolour paper / thick cartridge paper
- Pot of water
- Masking Tape
- Scrap paper
- Mixing palette (you might have one in your watercolours, or a plate does just fine too!)

If you’d like any advice or suggestions, I’ve put my favourite materials here.
Cancellation policy
Fingers crossed there won’t be any disruptions to class, but in the case the class needs to be cancelled, I’ll offer a full refund or transfer to another class. If you have purchased a ticket and can no longer make it, I have a 72 hour cancellation policy. If cancelled more than 72 hours before, I’ll offer a full refund or transfer to another class, but unfortunately if within the 72 hours and I’m unable to fill the spot (I will try the waiting list!) then I can’t offer a refund.
